Holiday Fitness (a trainer’s perspective)

Posted on Jan 09 , 2012

This time around the holidays can be a nightmare for the average person trying to loose weight or attain specific fitness goals. Family is around, food is abundant, weather is frigid, and complacency is encouraged. That’s why you have a trainer though, right? To keep you focused and at least make sure you don’t backslide during this time. But did you ever think about how your trainer keeps their personal focus?

Whether you celebrate the holiday or not, whether you are a trainer or not, these next few weeks are tough on everyone. What keeps me focused to stay on my fintess grind? Honestly, it’s you. You have so much to worry about and so many worries about the cookies, egg nog, ginormous meals, and alcohol that those around you will be making and consuming; do you really need your trainer to follow you down that same path?

I have to be strong for you. Give you the extra motivation to be good. Let you know that it is possible. Let you watch me in my workouts. Let you see my dertermination, my focus. If I stay locked in on my goals, keep my body looking good, my diet on point, hopefully this will rub of on everyone else who sees me. It can be done. I have big shoulders, so jump on my back and I’ll carry you through the 1st of the new year. Give you that momentum to carry you through to hit the ground running.

Once that new year-new car smell starts to wear off, then we start looking forward to spring fitness and bikini/no shirt beach weather. Always looking forward to something new. Maybe train for a 5/10k event, or even dare we say half marathon? Start thinking now of new goals you want to reach. That will keep you going, keep you moving, keep you motivated.

Keep grinding y’all – we’ll get through this together!
